On sunday I went to my first Major League Baseball game AND first National Football League game.
The baseball game was fun, despite the Oakland A's ("A's" stands for Athletics) losing to the visiting TB Rays by a score of 2 to 3. ("TB" stands for Tampa Bay, not Tuberculosis.) We had good seats by the first base place, so I had to watch out and pay attention as to not get hit by the baseball. And you have to dress in the proper A's green and yellow ("gold") clothing, so I got a green baseball cap (I already had a "gold" sweatshirt).
Then we had to change enroute into red for the San Francisco 49ers game. It was the first preseason game (the 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings 15 to 10), so it didn't count towards the standings, but everyone was so excited and hyper that you couldn't tell. It was sweet, cause we had seats in one of the luxury suites overlooking the end zone and there was food and diet coke and champagne and stuff.
The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From 1968 to the present, the Athletics have played in the Oakland Coliseum.
The San Francisco 49ers (often referred to as the Niners) are a professional American football team. The team plays its home games at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California. The 49ers are currently a member of the Western Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The name "49ers" comes from the name given to the gold prospectors who arrived in Northern California around 1849 during the California Gold Rush.
